Date Sheet details form (for teacher)

I have created a jsp webpage to take exam details from teachers for generation of exam date sheet. This webpage gives an option to select batch which on selecting shows courses , exam type and exam duration. A teacher can't submit this form until he/she fills all the required fields. I have a screenshot of this form.

On submitting this form the details are updated in the database. I posted a screenshot of the data base too. In this screenshot there are 3 extra column namely Exam_Day_No, Slot No, No of Students. I will tell about these column in other post.

Completed Debar list module

Today we have completed debar list module which contains debar list of students enrolled in a particular course. This module has been completed for both teacher and admin view. I have posted a screenshot of the same.

An admin can allow debarred students to sit in an exam by ticking the allowed check box in front of their names and clicking the update button and the record would be updated in the mysql database.

A teacher or an admin can export the above data to Excel Sheet or to PDF Document using the export button on the top. I have attached the screenshot of the same.

Found good API's..

I found an interesting API(Application Programming Interface) called poi-3.8-beta4-20110826 (ref:-link ) which can be used to convert mysql fetched data into excel sheet. I also found an API (iTextpdf ref:-link ) for converting a excel sheet into a pdf. These API's can be implemented into our project for various purpose like saving debar list, datesheet ,etc into excel and pdf.

Demo Video

Today we had submitted a live demonstration of the project in the form of a video. I have used a tool named Fraps which can record audio and capture screen. I have also used a website www.wideo.co for creating the creative content for the video. I faced some difficulties while recording the video. You can download the video from this link.

Student Details

Today we have completed the database of student details which contains student information like enrollment number, date of birth , etc. I have posted a screenshot which displays the student details when a user logs into his account. 

We have also linked the debar status menu to the database which displays a student's attendance in various subjects and also tells whether a student is debarred or not after checking it's attendance. I am posting a screenshot of the Debar Status.

  

Manual Date Sheet Preparation

Yesterday we had a meeting with of the project advisers.He had given us a task of preparing date sheet for the MBA Examination on excel sheet manually. He had given us the necessary details for the preparation of date sheet. We had successfully completed the task and send him an email. By doing this task we had understood how to make a Date Sheet for a MBA Exam. Now we have to implement this in our project. The Date Sheet prepared can be found here.

Formative Assessment 3

For FA3 I had submitted the progress of the work completed till 5th November. I had also submitted the code which I had developed. You can download the document from here.

Session Management

Today I have added session management to the home page. Session management would take care of any unauthorized access to the home page of the website i.e. accessing the home page without logging into the website. Moreover session management would also expire the session of a user if the user is inactive for 3 hours. I am posting a screenshot of expired session page.

Prototype of Home Page

This is a screenshot of a prototype of home page which contains a basic vertical menu. Home page also shows the name of the logged in user and it's user type i.e admin, teacher or student and there is a logout button also. It took me a 4-5 hours to search and adjust the template for the home page.

Database Connectivity

Today I connected my project's login page to the database. When a user enters his credentials then the login page connects to the database and matches the credentials with the database and then it redirects to the home page after checking whether the user is an admin , teacher or student. I faced some difficulties while connecting to the database but I managed to run the code successfully after fixing a few bugs in the code.

Initial Research Work Ended

After a fortnight we have completed our research for the project and now we can start the coding part of our project.

Started acquiring basic knowledge of all technologies needed for development like jsp(java server page), CSS, HTML javascript etc which would be used for development of the project.
